Home Improvements to make this winter

The winter season isn’t the most conventional time to begin home improvement projects, but there are plenty of reasonable projects you can undertake to help improve the comfort and value of your home while it’s cold outside. Below we have listed some ideas to consider for winter home improvements.

1. Seal air leaks

Sealing or re-sealing around your doors and windows that are letting any cold air in your home can go a long way towards making your home more comfortable this winter season.  This is a relatively simple fix and will pay dividends when heating your home.

2. Paint a room

You’ve probably been considering re-painting a room or two in your home over the last couple of years and have just not had the motivation to get it done. Take advantage of your time inside this winter and tackle one of those rooms with a whole new coat of paint!

3. Replace cabinets

Whether in your kitchen or bathroom you probably have some old cabinets that have been around for ages that could use some replacing. Utilize this time inside to freshen up your cabinets and give them a more modern look.

4. Insulate your attic

In the same vain as sealing spots where cold air could be let in, insulating your attic can help your home stay warmer during these cold months. It’s probably something you have had on your to-do list for some time, and this winter might just be the perfect time to address it!

5. Re-model a bathroom

Re-modeling a bathroom can be a bit of an undertaking, but helps improve the value of your home exponentially! Consider re-tiling, replacing faucets, updating your shower/bath, etc. In the long run, this will add to the value of your home.

6. Update your laundry room

The laundry room isn’t the most attractive room in the home, but if you’ve noticed that your washer or dryer aren’t quite working the way they used to or if you’d like to figure out how to utilize more space in your laundry room, establishing a plan for how to improve your laundry room can be a fruitful winter project.

7. Install backsplash in your kitchen

One of the more popular improvements made to kitchens is adding backsplash above the counters. If you feel confident enough to tackle this yourself then give it a shot! If not, hiring someone to help you create the perfect backsplash display can be an awesome addition to your kitchen this winter!
