The Wilds
Thursday, October 16, 2025

Our motorcoach will take us to The Wilds, southeast of Zanesville, for a two-hour open-air safari tour of former strip-mine terrain now operating as The Wilds. You'll climb onto a tour bus and set out into vast pastures, driving by giraffe, camels, bison, painted dogs, zebras, Przewalski's wild horses, rhinos, banteng, and many more! Tour guides help us spot the animals roaming the 10,000 acres and stop the bus to tell you stories about them. It's an amazing experience. (Reminder: dress for the weather.) Hopefully, we will see some beautiful fall foliage on the trip.
Following the tour, we’ll grab lunch at the Wilds, with a full baked potato bar, breadsticks, salad, fruit, cookies, and a drink (included), and visit the gift shop.
Next, we will travel back into Zanesville, and visit the studio of Alan Cottrill, most well-known for large commissions and statues. This prolific, revered sculptor and entrepreneur has created thousands of statues from George Washington to Ohio State’s Brutus Buckeye to Ohio native Thomas Edison, a statue now on display in the United States Capitol's National Statuary Hall.
Let’s take a break for a brownie or piece of cake, plus either pop, tea or lemonade at Bee’s Sweet Treats in the Downtown Exchange Food Hall in Zanesville.
A final stop in Utica with a visit to the generations-old Legend Hills Orchard for a cup of fresh apple cider (our treat) and a brief tour. Pick up some fresh fruit to take home.
Cost is $140 per person.
