FACTS: WHAT DOES CES CREDIT UNION DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

WHY?

Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

WHAT?

The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:

  • Name and address, Social Security numbers, Account number(s) and transactions, balances,  advances and account history.
  • Credit history and credit scores
  • Information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of the credit union, and to provide you with certain financial services and opportunities.

HOW?

All financial companies need to share certain personal information of members to run their everyday business. In the section below, we list the reasons financial companies (including CES Credit Union) can share their members’ personal information; the reasons CES Credit Union chooses to share; and whether you can limit this sharing.

How does CES Credit Union protect my personal information?

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with Federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings. CES Credit Union will only share information with affiliates that have been approved by the Board of Directors of CES Credit Union.

How does CES Credit Union collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you:

  • apply for membership or provide information on applications and other forms
  • conduct transactions with us or others
  • have information we may obtain from a consumer reporting agency, or from consumer purchasing and census data.

We may collect information regarding your mobile device such as device settings, unique device identifiers, information about your location, and analytical information that may assist with diagnostics and performance. For your convenience, you may be asked to grant permission for access to your mobile device’s geolocation data. This information may be collected when you use certain services that are dependent on your mobile device’s location (such as the location of an ATM or in store transaction). The mobile banking application may access contact information from your mobile device in order to facilitate certain features within the application, including, but not limited to, Bill Pay.

Why can’t I limit all sharing?

CES Credit Union does not sell member information. In accordance with Federal law, CES does share information for affiliates’ everyday business purposes including some information about your creditworthiness. You may limit affiliates from using your information to market to you and sharing your information to non-affiliates to market to you. State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

What happens when I limit sharing for an account I hold jointly with someone else?
Your choices will apply to everyone on your account.

Definitions: 

  • Affiliates: Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and non-financial companies.
  • Non-affiliates: Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and non-financial companies. This may include (but is not limited to) data processors, statement processors and printers, and other processors providing services such as shared branching, ATM, Debit Card and services.
  • Joint marketing: A formal agreement between non-affiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you. CES Credit Union offers competitive products and services which may require sharing information to complete your transactions.

Please note: If you are a new member, we can begin sharing your information on the day you receive this notice. When you are no longer a member, we continue to share your information as described in this notice. However you may contact us at any time to limit our sharing.

Employees and Confidentiality

CES Credit Union, Inc. restricts access to nonpublic personal information about you to only those employees who have a specific business purpose for using it. Our employees are trained on the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. We maintain electronic and physical safeguards that comply with federal regulations and leading industry practices to safeguard your nonpublic personal information.

PRIVACY NOTICE:

This Notice is not intended to apply to Personal Information (as defined below) we collect about our employees, applicants for employment, or contractors in the employment context.

“Personal Information” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household that is processed by CES Credit Union in the course of our business, including CES Credit Union’s branches, website, mobile application, and other online or offline offerings (together or individually, the “Services”).

Users of the CES Credit Union mobile banking application downloaded from Google Play and the Apple App Store have access to a variety of features, some that may require permissions. These permissions are optional. Below are the permissions and what they are used for.

Permission Function
Location This application needs access to your location to direct you to the closest service center or ATM.
Browser or Device Information Most browsers or devices collect information such as computer type, screen resolutions, operating system name and version, internet browser, the name and version of the application you are using. This information is used to make sure that everything in the application is functioning properly.
Camera The application needs access to your camera to take pictures of checks when utilizing Mobile Check Deposit.
Images When you deposit a check with Mobile Check Deposit, an image is transmitted, but may not stored on the device for the transaction.
Foreground Service and Wake Lock When using this application, it will be prioritized for processing power and could reduce battery life of the device.
Push Notifications If you enable push notifications, you could receive notifications regarding transactions and accounts.
Contacts Enabling access to your contacts allows you to utilize person to person payments (such as Bill Pay).
Biometrics Enabling access to biometrics and fingerprints stored in your phone allows you to use these methods to login to your account, instead of using your password.
Application Information When you download and use this application, we may track and collect usage data based on your specific device.

The sources of the Personal Information we collect above include Personal Information that you directly provide to us (for example, on our website or in our Application, in our branches, or by telephone), Personal Information that we gather from the devices you use to access our Services (for example, website, mobile telephone, or in our Application), and Personal Information that we generate internally (for example, we may generate identifiers internally that we associate with you). The business purpose of collecting this information is to provide you with the service which you have requested, or information requested by you or for a purpose you expressly authorize.

What Personal Information We Share

The Privacy Facts form and this Notice describe the categories of third parties with whom we share Personal Information. In the last 12 months, we have disclosed categories of Personal Information as described in the Privacy Facts form and this Notice with third party service providers (such as payment service provides, shipping companies, etc.) to perform business services on behalf of CES Credit Union to comply with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (“GLBA”).
We currently do not “sell” your information and have not “sold” information in the preceding twelve (12) months. CES shares and exchanges information for direct marketing purposes as described in Privacy Facts form. However, CES respects and understands that you may still want to ensure your Personal Information is not sold or shared/exchanged. Therefore, if you would still like to proceed with a “do not sell my personal information” request, we ask that you call us toll-free at 888-397-1136 or notify us in writing at CES Credit Union, Opt-Out, PO Box 631, Mount Vernon, OH 43050 and specifically state your request.

Your Control

CES Credit Union would like to provide you certain abilities to control your information, such as:

  • Deletion. You may request that we delete certain Personal Information that we have collected from you. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to honor your request, in compliance with applicable laws. Please note, however, that we may need to keep such information, such as for our legitimate business purposes or as required to comply with applicable law.
  • Digital Account Deletion and Managed Data. To request your digital account to be deleted or certain data to be removed, call us toll-free at 888-397-1136 or notify us in writing at CES Credit Union, Opt-Out, PO Box 631, Mount Vernon, OH 43050 and specifically state your request.
  • Opt-out of certain sharing with third parties. You may direct us to stop disclosing your Personal Information to third parties for monetary or other valuable considerations. We currently do not “sell” your information.
  • Right of Rectification. If you should become aware that personal information concerning yourself which CES holds is inaccurate you may contact us, and we will make reasonable efforts to correct the inaccurate information.
  • Period of Data Retention. You may receive information regarding the estimated period of time for which personal data will be stored, or, if this hasn’t been decided the criteria that will be used to determine the period of retention.

Protecting the Privacy of Children’s Information

Our online financial services are not designed for or directed toward children. We do not knowingly solicit or collect data from children and we do not knowingly market any service or product to children online. We recognize that protecting children’s identities and online privacy is important and that the responsibility rests with us and the parents.
