It may feel like the start of school is miles away, but in reality there is less than a month before students head back to school. This means it’s time to get into some back-to-school shopping! With inflation on the rise, being resourceful this back-to-school shopping season is important. One valuable resource to take advantage of is the annual Ohio Sales Tax Holiday for Back-to-School shopping!
For 2022, this tax-free holiday takes place from Friday, August 5th – Sunday, August 7th.
Below is what is included in this tax-free holiday:
- Clothing and shoes priced at $75 per item or less. Items over $75 will have the standard sales tax applied to the entire price of the item. (Note: items that are worn for specific sports or recreation are not included, such as ballet/tap shoes, football/baseball cleats, sport specific gloves, etc.)
- School supplies priced at $20 per item or less (see qualifying list below)
- School instructional material priced at $20 per item or less
Items not included are most accessories, protective equipment, sewing supplies, sports and recreation equipment or sports-specific clothing, or items specific to a trade or business.
