TRIP #1

Home(s) of the Buckeyes Tour

Wednesday June 21, 2023

  • Our first stop is a 90 minute walking tour of the legendary Ohio Stadium, home of the football Buckeyes of THE Ohio State University since 1922. The “Horseshoe” seats 102K on game day and is the fourth-largest on-campus facility in the nation. We’ll visit the Yassenoff Recruit Center filled with pictures of current and former Buckeye greats, then see one of the nation's largest collegiate press boxes and view the field from one of the 81 suites at the Huntington Club level. Of course, we’ll tour the Steinbrenner Band Center, home to “ The Best D*** Band in the Land." Your Buckeye soul will love this experience. Expect walking on this tour.
  • Then we will enjoy a buffet lunch at the family-owned Hickory House in Gahanna. Your choice of entrĂ©es with salad, sides, beverage and tip are included.
  • Immediately after lunch, we will have a guided tour through the public rooms of the Ohio Governor’s Residence and the Heritage Garden in Bexley. Originally the Jeffrey family estate, eleven governor's families have lived at the residence filled with examples of Ohio art and industry. The Heritage Garden offers a glimpse into several of Ohio's natural habitats.  Tours require approximately one hour of standing and walking.
  • Next, we’ll stop by Conrads – The Ohio State Store in Westerville for some on-your-own shopping (to pick up some Buckeye gear?) and maybe a "bonus stop" (weather permitting) to just relax.
  • A final stop for a very sweet treat will end the day, and it's our treat!

Departing CES Credit Union, 1215 Yauger Road, Mount Vernon at 7:45am, and returning around 6-6:30pm.

NOTE: Ohio Highway Patrol requires names before governor's home tour, so substitutions are NOT permitted less than 2 weeks before trip.  We will need the legal name on the registration form that matches your ID. Bring your valid photo ID with you to show OHP prior to the tour.

Cost: $105 per person includes guided motorcoach transportation, admissions, meal with tip, and treat. Shopping is on-your-own.

TRIP #2

Marietta and More Tour

Thursday September 14, 2023

  • Let's head into the Deep South (of Ohio) and visit the boyhood home of one of Ohio's favorite sons at the John & Annie Glenn Museum in New Concord for a morning tour.
  • Then we will trek down I-77 to Ohio's first settlement, Marietta. Enjoy views of the Muskingum & Ohio Rivers as we dine at the Riviera, a dockside barge vessel. Just a  few steps away is The Valley Gem Sternwheeler, celebrating 50 years in 2023. It is a genuine sternwheel passenger vessel that runs the Ohio River. Our 90 minute narrated tour on the river will tell us history from the rivers' perspective and stories of how Marietta was founded.
  • On the way home, we will make a final stop at Yellow Butterfly Winery, located near Newcomerstown. Relax and take in the beautiful countryside from the deck of the century-old barn. Enjoy a few wine samples and a light meal before returning back to where we began our day (in Mount Vernon).

Departing CES Credit Union, 1215 Yauger Road, Mount Vernon at 8:00 am, and returning around 7:15pm.

Cost: $120 per person includes guided motor coach transportation, admissions, meal with gratuity, plus wine samples and a light meal at the winery.
