2020 MAP Trips

We love our Buckeye State, and our escorted motorcoach tours allow you to  experience this great state as well. Let us take care of the deluxe motor coach transportation, any admission and most meals & tips. Your CES escorts will handle all the details. Any other purchases or fast food stops are on-your own for the day. We work very hard to keep the trips affordable and fun!

All trips will leave from Yauger Road center (in Mount Vernon, OH, at 1215 Yauger Rd., just off Coshocton Ave., near CVS Pharmacy and KCH) promptly at the time shown in the trip description. If you have any special needs, please let us know when you make your reservation. If walking or stairs are part of the tour, it will be mentioned in the description.

Space is limited and priority is given to those in the Member Appreciation Program (MAP), a rewards program for members of age 50 and higher with deposits of $3,000 or more with CES Credit Union. Members are welcome (and encouraged) to bring guests (including non-members, who we call “future members”).

Ohio Stadium, 94th Aero Squadron, Governor’s Residence, Franklin Park Conservatory

A real Buckeye will love this unique day experience. Begin the day with a walking tour of Ohio Stadium, at THE Ohio State University, where the Buckeyes have won hundreds of games since 1922. We’ll see the Yassenoff Recruit Center filled with pictures of current and former Buckeye greats. Then travel up to one of the nation’s largest collegiate press boxes, where over 400 media personnel and staff are seated for games, and view the field from the Huntington Club suite level. Trip #2: Ohio River Cruise

Thursday, June 25th | $105/person ($99/person if paid on or before May 31st)

John & Annie Glenn Home, Buffet lunch on Ohio River, Valley Gem Stern Wheeler Trip, Dinner at Roscoe Village

The Glenn name is synonymous with Ohio’s history - in space travel and in politics.  This morning, we’ll take a living history tour of the John & Annie Glenn Historic Site in New Concord. Costumed characters take you through John’s boyhood home as though it is 1944 during WWII. Experience the sacrifices made on the “Home Front” during that time.

We drop down I-77 to Marietta. The “Riviera” (a restaurant aboard the landing barge Miss Lily on the Ohio River) will host our lunch buffet. Meal and gratuity are included.

Immediately after lunch, we depart on The Valley Gem for a  narrated tour on the meandering Ohio River. This sternwheeler is truly a thing of beauty; meticulously maintained and offering you the opportunity to sit back, relax, feel the wind on your face and hear the rush of the water. Learn more about the river and the first permanent settlement in Ohio, Marietta.

After the Valley Gem, we’ll depart for Coshocton, and get a brief talk about the history of Roscoe Village, a restored canal-era town from the 1830’s along the bustling Ohio & Erie Canal. Order selected dishes from the menu for dinner (meal included, with tip) at the historic Warehouse Restaurant, located in a restored structure from the early days of Roscoe.

Early bird price, until May 31: $99 per person
or $105 per person if purchased 6/1 until 6/10.
Leaving Yauger Rd. CES center promptly at 7:30am.
Returning approximately 7:00pm. All admissions, lunch and dinner stops with gratuity included.

Trip #3: Only in Cleveland

Thursday, August 20th | $100/person ($95/person if paid on or before July 31st)

Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Italian Village lunch, Lake View Cemetery, The “Christmas Story” House

This morning, we’ll start with a guided tour and a little free time at the nearly century-old Cleveland Museum of Natural History. The Museum hosts award-winning travelling exhibits from around the world. Cozy up to a Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur, then step into a wild oasis in the Wildlife Center and Woods Garden with soaring walkways and close-up views of native Ohio wildlife including owls, coyotes, bobcats and river otters (weather-permitting).

In the heart of Cleveland’s historic Little Italy, our lunch at Maxi’s Bistro will include a choice of several different plated lunches of pasta or pizza. Beverage and tip included.

After lunch, a step-on guide will give us a tour of historic Lake View Cemetery, founded in 1869 and known for its numerous lavish funerary monuments and mausoleums. The cemetery includes the James A. Garfield Memorial (built in 1890 as the tomb of the assassinated president), Wade Memorial Chapel and the burial plots of Eliot Ness and John D. Rockefeller.

Changing gears, our last stop is the famed “A Christmas Story” House, from the 1983 holiday movie you now watch every year. The tour involves the back story, movie memorabilia and a guided tour of the restored house from the 1940’s era, complete with the leg lamp in the front window and gift shop next door. Join us. “We triple-dog dare you!”
(There’s one flight of stairs in the restaurant and Christmas House each.)
